Installation BIM HVACTool

Client- and Serverversion

The BIM HVACTool was developed and programmed as an add-on for the freely available open-source software packages like OpenFOAM®, Energy Plus, Radiance, or FDS. The BIM HVACTool is designed to assist climate engineers, building physicists, and architects in dealing with increasingly complex buildings through a simple and intuitive user interface in project management. Through tutorials and training materials, users will learn the basic skills necessary to use the BIM HVACTool software and the integrated program packages. The first part, which you are holding in your hand, provides information on the correct installation, activation, and, if necessary, deinstallation of the software. This manual, the training materials, and the software have been created with the utmost care, however, no absolute guarantee of error-free software, accompanying data, or manual can be given. We would like to point out that all names and trademarks used in this manual, training materials, and software are subject to the respective company’s trademark and patent protection.

System Requirements

The performance of the graphics card is crucial for large and/or complex geometries when using the BIM HVACTool. In particular, building graphics requires a fast graphics card (GPU), preferably in combination with a powerful processor (CPU), for smooth processing. In terms of flow simulation, a large amount of memory is beneficial. A memory of 64 GB is recommended. Of course, the BIM HVACTool can also be run on less powerful workstations, but this will result in slower processing speed and longer simulation times. The minimal requirements for the BIM HVACTool are described below:

  • Microsoft® Windows®, from version Vista, 64bit
  • Intel® i7 Processor or higher
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Graphic resolution 1920 x 1080, DirectX 11
  • Internet access, e-mail address and maintenance contract are required for online updates
